The Whitaker Group is a leading advocate in support of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), working to ensure it remains strong and relevant in a changing global marketplace.
Our government affairs and advocacy work includes:
- Advocating for enhancements to AGOA. In 2008, TWG successfully worked with Congressional leaders to remove a harmful provision of AGOA that restricted sourcing options for African apparel manufacturers.
- Facilitating White House meetings between African heads of state and the President of the United States.
- Regularly designing and implementing advocacy programs for client governments with the White House and Congress.
- Successfully promoting the eligibility of client governments for funding under the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) and assisting with drawing up proposals for Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compacts.
