Rosa Whitaker, President and CEO of The Whitaker Group (TWG), is pleased to announce a major expansion of its operations with the opening of TWG’s West Africa office in Accra, Ghana. “Since the founding of TWG in 2003, we have seen extraordinary growth in the volume of trade between the United States and West Africa.
As TWG’s business activities in the region have expanded, it has become necessary for us to establish a more permanent presence there to better serve our expanding client base both in Africa and in the United States,” said Ms. Whitaker. TWG West Africa will expand the firm’s capacity to serve the growing number of US companies seeking to invest and build partnerships in the region’s dynamic markets, while also assisting African governments and companies to expand their presence in the US.
The West Africa office complements TWG’s existing strategic partnership agreements in Southern Africa with Baird’s Renaissance and Cool Ideas. Baird’s Renaissance is a strategic relations firm with 150 employees in Africa. Cool Ideas, a firm specializing in the apparel sector with a history of sourcing in Africa, has facilitated $45 million in trade to the continent.
“The establishment of a permanent office in West Africa and our strategic alliances reflect TWG’s conviction that, despite the current economic slowdown, trade and investment ties between the United States and the region will continue to grow and be sustainable,” Ms. Whitaker said. “The business outlook in Africa has never been better. We feel privileged to be part of this exciting period in the continent’s development.”
